PEOPLE AND THINGS

There's a saying that we love things,
And use people.  But it should be
The other way around.  People get
Tired of being used--and things are empty.

What good is it if you get a raise
Or promotion or something else
Good happens, if there is no one
To celebrate with?  It's lonely by yourself.

If you keep using people--they
Will get disgusted and walk away.
You've not only betrayed their friendship--
You've betrayed their trust, never to regain.

All the money and things in the world
Can't buy true happiness and companionship.
You may think you're on top of the world--
But you're really in a bottomless pit.

If you love people and use things,
You'll be better off in life.
You'll feel happier, have friends--
And much less strife.
