VALENTINE'S

Small candy hearts
With words on them.
Decorated shoe boxes with slits
To hold Valentines from your friends.

Sometimes, someones Mom
Would make frosted heart
Cookies and bring them to school.
That was always a special part.

The effort made to make
Just the perfect Valentine
For your Mom and Dad, they
Kept them all tucked away through time.

Cards exchanged with sweethearts
Through the years--
Away at college or at war,
Re-reading them kept them near.

Boxes of chocolates--the
Candy long since gone.
The boxes are old, cards faded--
But the memories live on.

A flower from a bouquet
Maybe pressed in a book,
Just seeing it reminds you
How wonderful they looked.

Spending the day with
Your special someone,
It can be romantic or doing
Something together that's fun.
