Just in case you weren't aware-
Our society and world are in
A very sorry state, due
In part by choices taken.
Our federal and state governments
Are broken--budgets are a mess--
Candidates for president don't debate,
They argue like children at recess.
Budget cuts to education, leaving
Them woefully short on funds.
But we still have teachers that have
Sexual relations with our daughters or sons.
In what era was it ever okay
To sexually assault another student
Or call Emergency Responders for a prank?
Somewhere, someone lost their judgement.
For some people, it's like their
Sense of decency doesn't exist.
There shouldn't have to be protests
And riots for people to face their consequence.
There are terrorist groups
Recruiting people from other countries--
Including the USA. We still have
Attacks happen despite borders and boundaries.
If we can't seem to deal with
The problems we have here--
How can we defend against terrorist attacks
And not have to live in fear?
If all the people with decency and common sense
Would band together and say "NO MORE"--
Society could be made better for everyone,
And we could better protect our shores.
