After Christmas

Christmas Day is over, boxes
And wrappings piled in the trash.
Hopefully the good will the holiday
Brought will continue to the last.

The manic days of shopping
Are ending, except for returns
Or exchanges.  The true meaning
Of Christmas still eternally burns.

You have a rest before
The New Year festivities begin.
A fresh new start for all
To make their lives happy again.

Some make resolutions
That they fail to keep.
Others don't bother with them,
What they sow, they reap.

Remember the lessons
The past year taught you.
Learn from them and
You'll know what to do.

Keep God in your heart
As you are in His, through
Life's ups and downs.
He's always with you.
