Help me to understand,
Help to make me see--
Why someone who plays sports, is worth
More than a soldier who fights to keep us free.
Sports players live in big mansions,
And have everything money can buy.
While some veterans are homeless--
And have flashbacks that drive them to suicide.
Sports players have the very best
In medical care and rehab.
Veterans wait months to see a doctor, hoping
They'll still be alive for the appointment they have.
That this should be the case, means our
Priorities are seriously out of whack.
The VA needs reorganizing quickly--
Our vets were promised we would have their backs.
Maybe some of these sports players
Should donate large parts of their pay
To help the veterans who fought and died
To make sure our country's freedom stays.
