Have You Noticed?

Have you ever noticed there is a line of
People to tell you if you do something wrong,
But when you do something right--
It get's quiet and the line's not that long.

People are always ready to criticize
And condemn you--some seem to enjoy it.
Do they realize without encouragement
Or kindness, your self esteem goes in the toilet?

You're ashamed to talk about it,
You don't want anyone's pity--
You try to cover your feelings
By being silly and witty.

No one takes you seriously, whether
They are family or friend.
You feel you're in a vicious circle--
Round and round with no end.

You've been dumped on so long,
No matter how hard you work--
You never get very far.
Some say you're lazy and a jerk.

Even if the hurt happened
In the past, it needs to be
Acknowledged and discussed
Because it caused damage permanently.
