Moonlit Mountain

Tall, craggy shadows
In the silvery moonlight.
The smell of pine floats
In the breeze that adds chill to the night.

The forest is thick and dark.
Creatures in their hidey-holes,
Some hibernating, while some
Do routine scouting patrols.

The terrain can be treacherous
When travelled in the dark,
Unless you have lanterns
For planning to camp in the park.

Everything looks magical,
Or from another world.
Calm, serene and peaceful--
Dusted the color of pearls.

Stars twinkle brightly,
Like tiny diamonds on high.
Adding to the beauty
Of a moonlit mountain night.
