Search For Life

We search for life
On other planets,
To see if they're
More advanced.

If by some chance
There is, why would
They work with us?  We haven't
Done our own any good.

What we have done
To our planet home,
In the name of progress--leaving
Less natural beauty to be shown.

God's animal creations are
Losing their natural habitats--
And can't find food because we built malls
And skyscrapers--we definitely need all that.

Man can be greedy and wants
All he can get, no matter what.
Animals and nature are collateral damage--
Their well-being not given a second thought.

There are some groups that
Make it their mission in life
To save animals and nature
From destruction and strife.

If we ever find life
On other planets, I hope
They take pity on us earthlings
And show us better ways to cope.

We have life here on earth
That needs to be cared for,
Before we even think of
Knocking on another planets' door.
