Foolish Dream?

I want a world where people are free
To stand up for what they believe in
Without fear of reprisal, being kidnapped,
Shunned, or worst of all, murdered even.

To be free to pray when and where
They want to, according to their faith.
To be free not to be judged and condemned
Because they act different or have a different face.

Not to be brainwashed by people who
Would turn people against their family, country,
Even their God because they think theirs is
The only true way to live and believe.

I want a world where we don't
Live in fear of nuclear war--
That would destroy the earth,
And it would be no more.

I want a world where people's
Human and Civil rights are respected.
Animals aren't abused and killed,
And the mentally challenged aren't deemed defective.

I want a world where everyone has
An equal chance at life--
Safe places to  live and play, not slums
Where crime and violence are rife.

People may think I'm crazy--
As it is now, it will never come about.
But wouldn't it be wonderful to
Overcome fear, hatred, and doubt?
