My friends in my life
Are very dear to me.
Some of them in fact,
Could be called extended family.
We've shared things together,
Both happy and sad.
We joke and tease each other, but always
Give prayer and support when something goes bad.
I cherish the things
Each one brings to my life.
They're all very different--
But keep my world alight.
I feel sorry for people
Who have no friends like these.
How empty and dreary
Their lives must be.
God gives you friends
For a reason--
To help you through life
For a short time or a season.
