Hey America--don't count us out.
We may be considered a Plain state--
But our people are anything but.
We're the Heartland of America and we're great!
Most think of us as Dorothy's
Home in The Wizard Of Oz,
Or a barren place with
Indians and outlaws.
We may not have mountains,
Or oceans with beaches--
But we're part of America's history, our story
Important for the lessons it teaches.
Our people are friendly,
Our sports teams among the best.
We're not slow-witted hicks,
There's always fun at Wichita's River Fest.
We have a mixture of Germans,
Swedes and Czechs--and others.
We celebrate each heritage proudly.
Generations of farmers passed down by fathers.
You may not think we're as uptown
As you'd like us to be--
But we like beautiful sunrises and sunsets,
And the fresh air of the prairie.
