Seniors

No matter how much time has passed,
And how many people have come and gone--
Even if they forget your name,
The way you make them feel lives on.

They may not comprehend
Things that people say--
But when they hear your voice,
They know that it's okay.

They may get upset and fuss
At those who try to calm them down--
But when they feel you touch their hand,
They know someone who loves them is around.

They know you'll be there,
And always have their back.
And won't let anything harm them--
You'll keep them safe from attack.

If you do nothing else in life
That makes you feel worthwhile--
All doubts will disappear
When they see you and smile.
