My Wish Now And Forever

I wish I was a better person,
I wish I was a better Christian--
I wish there would be peace
throughout the land.

I wish I could remember the good things
And deal better with the things that aren't.
Not still be hurt by past things--
Focus more on the future and good parts.

I wish that everyone had enough
For what they need--no more, no less.
That people remember right from wrong,
And remember wrong's consequence.

I wish things could be fair and equal
In every country--
No more dictators, no terrorists,
No more poverty.

I wish each country's leaders
Would do their best for the people,
Not themselves.  Not invade other places--
If only it could be that simple.

I wish every religion could learn to co-exist peacefully,
And not have wars and call themselves jihadists--
And know that crimes against humanity
Make them terrorists.

This is what I'd wish,
Now and forever more.
That evil and hate would disappear,
And love and kindness be restored.
