Broken Rules

What I'd like to know
Is who and when it
Was decided not follow
The rules.  Not only the 10 Commandments--

But also Humanities rules.
Who decided it was right,
To cheat and swindle people
Just for money and powerful might.

People know right from wrong,
But choose to take the easy, cheating
Path.  You don't lie and cheat
Your friends and customers-no Ponzi scheming.

Don't break your marriage vows
Because you think the grass is greener.
You'll always be known as a liar
And a cheater.

Don't judge people--
You don't know what they've been through,
And you'd get absolutely furious
If someone looked down or talked down to you.

Government leaders have
Scandals that bring America
To shame.  Use Executive Order
To deny something because you're President Obama.

Citizens who do criminal acts
Like George Zimmerman
Get tried, but not always put in jail.
He gets arrested again and again.

Little children and animals
Abused and killed.  That breaks the 10
Commandments, as well as
Humanities rules.

This may have started centuries ago,
Some people have tried to change.
But as of this century, in this world--
The broken rules remain.
