Coming Together

It's really sad to me,
That it usually takes a crisis
For people to show one another they care.
Someone you thought was mean, could be the nicest.

We need to show people
That we care everyday.
Rather than pass by like they're invisible,
When a smile or hello would make their day.

"A kind word to the living
Is worth more than a thousand
Tears at the grave."  It's sad
That some people don't understand.

Even an attack on our homeland
Had congress coming together.
All they ever do now is fight,
And say mean things about each other.

Things can't change all at once,
But if everyone started where they are--
And spread the news around,
We could all come together--much better by far.
