Last Dance

I saw a video
Not long ago--
It touched my heart,
And caused the tears to flow.

A young man was getting married,
Preparations were all made.
His Mom had terminal cancer--
So weak, in a wheelchair she stayed.

She was determined to dance
With him at his wedding,
Though her energy
Was ebbing.

At the reception,
They played a slow song,
She was helped to her feet--
Held in her son's arms so strong.

He simply held her
As they gently swayed to and fro.
Knowing there was little 
Time before she had to go.

After a few moments,
She was helped to her wheelchair.
Everyone crying at what they'd
Seen mother and son share.

Three days later, she passed away,
The Lord helped her have one last chance--
So she and her son
Could have one last dance.
