If Only...

If only we all could
Be the way God wants us to be.
If only we could see the good
In others God wants us to see.

If we only we helped others
As God intended us to do,
No civil wars or terrorism,
No jihads or military coups.

If only we would use
The mind and talents
God gave us for good--
And plain old common sense.

If only we could co-exist
With one another in peace.
No stereotypes, no profiling,
No greedy types wanting a bigger piece.

If only every nation could
Use their research to fight disease,
Instead of weapons of mass destruction--
There would be no need of nuclear peace treaties.

If only heads of government
Worked toward the people's good--
Instead of bickering with each other,
Or shedding their own citizens blood.

If only we followed God's word,
And trusted our lives to Him each day--
Our world would be a better place,
And no one could tell us not to pray.
