It was a beautiful sunny morning,
Everyone busy living life as always.
When without warning, we were attacked.
And life has never been the same.
As we heard the news and saw
The planes strike the towers,
We descended into Hell and were there
For many days and hours.
We were terrified on the ground,
We lost many great first responders.
The people on the planes knew their
Lives would end before much longer.
Some called loved ones to
Tell them goodbye--
From the planes and
Crumbling towers high.
Once it was all over,
We saw the damage done.
World Trade Center demolished,
Damage and lives lost at the Pentagon.
The fourth plane crashed in a field
In Pennsylvania, because doomed
Passengers wouldn't let them have
The plane even as certain death loomed.
All the remained after the towers
Collapsed were two twisted steel
Beams shaped like a cross--it's not just a phrase,
"In God We Trust", it's what we feel.
They say time heals all wounds,
Memorials have been built--
But nothing will ever dim the
Memory of the blood spilled.
