Looking In

Do you ever feel like
You're outside looking in?
Watching friends and family,
And feel you don't quite fit in?

Everyone enjoying themselves,
You sit off to one side alone,
No one to really talk with--
Thinking you should have stayed home.

It's not anything someone has
Said or done--at least not on purpose.
It's probably your imagination, your
Low self-esteem coming to the surface.

When they take family pictures
And crowd everyone in close--
They've given you the camera to take
A "family" photo with everyone posed.

You're not whining or being a victim,
You just wish someone would understand.
You don't want to spoil the fun,
You just don't have the confidence it demands.
