You see and hear it everywhere,
How you can "have it all".
Bosses love multi-taskers
And employees always on the ball.
There's nothing wrong with this--
But one thing they neglect to say,
Man or woman, black or white,
It will catch up to you one day.
After years of all this effort,
Something usually has to give:
Your nerves, your health, the economy,
Can all change the way you live.
The saddest thing about all of this
Is what seems an epidemic lately.
With so much on our minds,
The thing that gives is your precious baby.
Minds going a mile a minute may be excellent
On the job, but if it makes you leave
Your child in a hot, locked car to die--
Is it really worth all the grief?
Usually it's an accident, parents
Trading turns taking the baby to the sitter--
And forgetting to drop them off.
Even worse when intentional--it makes you even sicker.
God gives you your children
As a precious gift put in your care--
To love and protect them,
And watch out for their welfare.
No one can do or be everything--
That's an impossible task.
If your child died this way, how will you answer God
On judgement day when "why" is the question he asks?
