Your friend or loved one is dying
And there is nothing you can do.
You love and care for them,
As though the reality isn't true.
They've been so brave and strong,
And now it's come to this--
You need help because they're so weak,
You have to call in Hospice.
You've watched them lose ground
A little every day.
It's hard on everyone to know
That soon they'll be gone away.
If they're elderly, people say
"They've lived a good long life".
But sometimes they're in their 30's,
Both a mother and a wife.
Not to mention a beloved friend
Who has inspired many through her fight.
She's made us laugh and thoughtful,
And had us pray she'd be all right.
But God needs her as an angel,
Even though she's sassy and ornery at times.
And though we'll miss her dearly,
She'll always be in our hearts and minds.
