Use Your Mind

Do you use your mind
Before your mouth?
Do you lift someone's spirits--
Or make them go south?

The phrase "Mind Over Matter"
Can also say:  "Mind Over Mouth".
Think with your mind
Before anything comes out.

There are people you know
Who may understand your wit--
But others who don't may be
Offended by it.

There are some who don't care
What they say, and can humiliate
Others with their thoughtless ways.
Not just other people--but also your mate.

People everywhere should
Think before they open their trap--
That would save all of us from
Hearing a lot of crap.

One group this applies to strongly
Are our politicians when campaigning,
Even when they're elected--
No wonder people are complaining.

If people everywhere would stop
And think before they speak:
Am I helping solve the problem?
Or pushing it towards it's peak?

The same goes for judging folks
By the way they act or look or talk--
Before you judge someone--first go to the mirror,
Judge that person, take a good long gawk.

Think if what you say will help or harm,
Use your mind, it probably needs the work.
Don't judge others--you're no better than they,
You'll be a nicer person and not a jerk.
