Why Lord?

Why Lord
Do I have this chronic pain?
Is there some insight
Or wisdom I have yet to gain?

I know there are millons
Around the world fighting to stay alive--
My Aunt had bone cancer
And was in severe pain until she died.

I'm not saying I'm worse off
Than they are--
I've got a lot of blessings
To thank You for.

I've had this pain
My whole life long,
Employers think I'm faking--
They're ALL DEAD WRONG.

Even some friends
Didn't believe me,
Now they are older
And know how chronic pain can be.

If I could Lord,
I'd banish pain and sickness--
War and hate,
To show the world at it's best.

I can't do that--
So I pray you will
Help those who are worse than I--
Spread kindness, love, and goodwill.

Why Lord do I
Have this chronic pain?
To teach me humility,
Compassion and love in Your name.

I'll ignore the nasty
Comments and the hateful stares--
And pray for peace and guidance
My soul to repair.
