Strays

There are different kinds of strays
In this world--refugees of countries
In the midst of civil war, and little children
Who are orphans with no families.

In our own country,
People "slip through the cracks"--
Homeless people, some military vets--
For their service they get nothing back.

Another kind of stray
Are pets that give unconditional love
Yet are beaten and abandoned.
What are people thinking of?

They get put in shelters,
And if lucky adopted by loving families.
They love their new homes,
And are eager to please.

One more stray
That I can think of,
Are the one's who stray from God's
Teachings and His love.

All of these strays need
Our help, love, and prayers--
Because some day who knows,
You could end up there.
