You just can't sleep.
The house is dark and quiet-
The alarm is set,
And no one is making a peep.
No cars with loud music--
No one getting in a fight,
Maybe you had too much caffiene,
That's a hard habit to kick.
Your mind won't shut down,
It keeps going
Like a hamster on a wheel.
New thoughts and ideas abound.
You may have a headache,
Or a pain somewhere else--
Something may have upset you,
And it's keeping you awake.
You don't like sleeping pills--
They make you feel funny.
And you might get addicted,
So you stay up and pay bills.
You may walk the floors,
Watch TV or read.
Anything to pass the time,
Maybe make some s'mores.
Not being able to sleep--
Can be a sign of depression,
Or other illnesses--
Like a trauma that runs deep.
It upsets your body's
Circadium Rhythm--
Your days and nights get turned around,
You start to feel like a zombie.
It's almost dawn
And you haven't slept a wink.
You might try talking to God
Each day--he'll help your problem to be gone.
