He had blue eyes
And wavy brown hair,
Some thought he looked average--
But I didn't care.
He was taller than I--
He had a somber look too,
But when I was with him,
His great sense of humor came shining through.
He'd come over for dinner at my house,
Or we'd go to my folks,
He and Mom were buddies--
Even Dad liked him, we didn't have to coax.
We'd send each other
The same card on holidays,
Without even knowing it--
Our brains worked the same ways.
We'd go out to eat,
Or bring something home--
Cuddle, snuggle and rent a movie
We were together wherever we roamed.
One day a call came
Saying he was no more--
He'd never again come
Through my front door.
He was sick and hadn't told me,
He didn't like being what he called "a burden".
I'll love him forever--
Of that I am certain.
