Invisible Illness Army

We have "invisible illnesses"
People cannot see--
They think since we're not old,
This simply cannot be.

Even though we may not look sick,
Each day can be hard to get through--
We're still human beings
Like each one of you.

We may have diabetes or asthma,
Migraines and chronic pain too--
Heart disease or even cancer,
We suffer just like you.

We do not ask for pity,
We simply ask you not to judge.
Some day you may get one of these--
And our long road you'll trudge.

Then you'll understand our heartache
Missing things we used to do.
Just know we're not lazy or faking--
And our numbers are not few.
