What Is A Friend

A friend is someone you've known forever
Or even just a short while.
They're someone you can talk to--
And if you're sad they make you smile.

They can be someone in your family,
Or who feels like family to you,
They are there for your ups and downs--
To lend you an ear or a shoulder, which ever will do.

A friend follows the Golden Rule,
And treats you like they'd like to be.
As Jesus said in the Bible--
Show kindness to someone, you've shown it to me.

A friend knows you're crazy and goofy,
But they don't really care,
That's why you're their friend in the first place
You have qualities that you share.

It doesn't matter how many you have,
As long as they're trustworthy and kind.
Once you have one--you'll have a treasure
That lasts a lifetime.
