I know nothing and no one is ever perfect, but I still miss the values of the old days. Not the wars or not having enough income to get by. However, those things are happening now too. No what I miss is people were more trustworthy and kind to one another. A man's word was his bond. If someone says they'll do something, it was settled by a handshake.
Back when being logical and using common sense were part of the actual way of life on how to do things, not just some old fashioned hackneyed attitude no longer used. Before the internet could publish made up stories about people being dead when it's a known fact they're not.
Back when people had 3 main priorities: God, their family and their country, and value the opportunity to protect all three. Back when you could have faith in your leaders, and if they were caught doing wrong, they were prosecuted for what they did. Didn't matter what level or branch of the government. Everyone stood together for what was good for all, not just some. And people were to treat others with respect.
There was greed back then too, believing in God and being brought up with honesty held people to a moral standard. Children were not allowed to carry weapons, especially guns unless they were hunting and definitely not to school. Parents paid more attention to what their kids were doing and who they hung out with.
If you were able to help someone, or knew someone who could help them, they received the help they needed. Some wouldn't accept pay, they'd just tell the person to pass it on. If you didn't agree with something, you could protest or put up signs stating your position, but unless you did something illegal, you didn't need to be worried about being killed in the street because of a "misunderstanding ".
Some things will never change, but I miss the way we reacted to them and how we handled them.
