GRANDMA AND HER VIOLETS

My grandma loved growing African Violets, her favorites were the deep purple ones . At her house she had shelves attached to the bottom of both dining room windows so they got the right rays of light from the sun.

She had all kinds of articles about the best way to help them grow. They had to have special food mixed with water. She tended to them  faithfully,  their beautiful blooms were a sight to behold.

My mom got interested in growing them, so did my Aunt on my father's side. When they'd get together they'd share notes on different colors and special fertilizers they had tried.

Everytime I  see a violet, I  think of grandma and miss her so. She'd be 125 years old this month. I'm sure she's been  tending Violets in Heaven and is happy watching them grow.
