Someone should write a book about Christmas traditions around the world. Doesn't matter if it's made up like Santa and the elves, or if it's the true story of Christ's birth. Don't you think it would be interesting to know the different stories of Christmas told in each country for generations? Does each town have a gathering? Or do individual families just get together? Some of us know the same Christmas carols, but others may know different ones. Do they go all out decorating the cities and homes? Do they have Christmas Eve candle light services. Doesn't each country have a special traditional Christmas dish? Do they have baking contests, make gingerbread houses? What decorations do they use ? Do they have parties with hot chocolate, hot cider and s'mores? My mom's father's side of the family was Czech and we would make kolaches at Christmas. You can make them anytime, but we loved to do it at Christmas. And all different kinds of traditional homemade candies, cookies, and pastries. I think if they would put some pictures from each country's Christmas decorations along with how they celebrate, it would be interesting. I know some people celebrate Hannukah instead of Chritmas. Just how each country celebrates a main religious holiday. The decorations doesn't have to be fancy and glittering, after all---Christ was born in a stable. It would be interesting to hear how they celebrate, and no judgements on what they do or don't do. Just a book to share about their holiday customs and traditions. It might help our world to know a little about each other without violence.
