DROUGHT

Creek beds are dry and dusty,          Water dried up years ago.                Everywhere you look rivers and lake levels are way too low.

Irrigation for crops is monitored,    So there's enough for all to use.      Plant crops or leave the fields fallow--farmers have to choose.

Childhood memories of fishing spots, and cannonballs in the swimming hole.                                   Summer fun with childhood friends, the joys of long ago.

Tumbleweeds and dust is all the drought brings.                                    Not much in the way of nature sounds, they're all moving to find somewhere with a river or spring.

Don't take earth's supply of water for granted just because it's been here for centuries.                              Things can change in the blink of an eye--then where would we be?
