WHY IT'S CALLED CHRISTMAS

Many centuries ago, in a small town called Bethlehem in Nazareth, a wonderful miracle happened. It was a quiet night--with only one bright star in the sky.  Our Savior, Jesus Christ was born surrounded by animals in a stable all forlorn.

The bright star came to rest over the stable.  Shepherds watching their flocks by night, saw and heard a choir of angels and it gave them a fright.  One angel said "Do not be afraid.  We bring you good tidings of great joy.  God's Son, Jesus has been born in Bethlehem in Nazareth.  He will save us from our sins."  Then all the angels started singing Hallelujah, praises in the highest.

Three wise men traveling from afar, found the newborn King by following that star.  They had been searching for Him to honor Him with gifts from their countries and to praise His name in worship.  The shepherds followed the star to find Him also.  Even the sheep and the animals in the stable felt God's miracle.  They didn't run away or make a lot of noise.

Santa and his elves and reindeer are nice.  But we are celebrating the birth of JESUS CHRIST.  He's the reason for the season.  That's why it's called CHRISTMAS.
