For years we've heard leaders say we need to allot funds
To shore up the country's infrastructure--mainly our bridges
And highways. All well and good, but we need to start with
Each state's building and safety codes, so what has happened
In Texas doesn't happen again. Their slogan may be "it's like
A whole 'nother country", but it's not. It's part of our country:
The United StatesOf America. All buildings housing public utilities
Need to be weather proofed for ALL kinds of weather--usual or
Unusual. Especially with all the debates going on about climate
Change making changes in weather patterns. All homes should have
The same construction requirements for tenants safety, whether they're
In he North, South, East, or West. The same for all public buildings too.
And all electric grids should be made to handle the areas they cover and have
Enough workers to handle outages as quickly as possible without leaving
People to freeze to death or become sick from not having heat for days.
They didn't even have a contingency plan!!! And they should make sure
Their elected officials, whether State or Federal--don't bail to warmer places
During disasters. College degrees are great, but having and using Common Sense
Is priceless.
