The Bible says "love thy neighbor as thyself",
And "do unto others as you'd have done to you".
We have neighbors who have love in their name
And show it in what they say and do.
We are having hard times right now, not just because
Of the pandemic, but other problems. They sense
And know our troubles and help us without making us feel
Worthless. We're surrounded by friendship, not a fence.
They send their grandkids to help us carry in groceries when
We could buy them, as we both have chronic pain.
Julie gets to baking or making meals with extra, and
Brings us goodies now and again.
Mom gets weepy--This is what she used to do.
She can't any longer and feels she does not
Deserve it now. She had no problem doing it for
Others. Now she's reaping what she sowed, a lot.
We're thankful to God for our neighbors,
And the friendship and kindness they show.
Mike cleans our driveway for us whenever
We have a good snow.
Bless them and their family, Lord--and
Give them stars in their crowns.
The appreciation and love we feel
For them knows no bounds.
