ALWAYS SAY I LOVE YOU

It's been said time and again--
"I never said I love you that last
Time.  I always assumed I'd see
Them later".  The regret will always last.

Just a simple, ordinary day of the week--
Same routine as usual, but fate
Throws a wrench in the routine.  Whether
Accident or attack, you won't forget the date.

It's either a drunk or stoned driver smashing
Into your car, or an incident of road rage.
It could also be terrorism or someone full of
Hate, wanting to kill others--no matter their age.

Always make sure you tell the ones
Close to you that you love them--
EVERY day.  Things can change in a
Second.  And you'll never see them again.

The immenseness of the tragedy
Will numb you, you're in total shock.
But it's the little things you wish you'd
Said or done, that will always haunt.

We've always had to be careful--
More so in these past years.
We are a strong nation that believes
In God--we refuse to live in fear.
