Some people don't like to think of their
Hometowns. Sometimes due to tragedy,
Or scandals. Some just don't like to admit
Where they're from due to ego and vanity.
But many more people love their hometowns.
They visit as often as they can to see
Family, friends, and reminisce. Tell your kids tales
Of when you were young--just yesterday, it seems.
Remembering certain places you would hang out,
Now torn down--or made into something else.
Old school friends--look the same, yet different.
Moaning over prom pictures of your younger self.
Feeling sad when you hear of the passing of old friends.
Going to see people who mattered to you when
You were growing up. Paying respects at the graves
Of those who helped you become you back then.
Hometowns are your starting place.
How you learn--good, or bad, is from
Your family and the environment around you.
Put all that together, you're the total sum.
