While waiting in line at checkout,
Or to buy tickets for a concert or game--
Time seems to drag on forever, everyone
You ask feels the same.
When you become parents, you drag
Yourselves through the terrible two's
Thinking they'll never end. Then later
Come the teenage years--people warned you.
Time seems to come to a stop when waiting
For news on a loved one who is very ill.
But if they pass, time went too quickly--
You wanted them with you still.
And parents who swore time dragged
Forever while raising their kids, now
Wonder why the time went so fast. The
Kids are grown and gone--just quiet, no sounds.
Then you're grandparents and great grand-
Parents. Suddenly time is moving too fast.
Just yesterday you got out of school full of
Plans. You're future dreams are now your past.
