Today, as we celebrate our Nation's
Birthday--we must be sure to
Remember all those who were maimed
Or gave the ultimate sacrifice for us to do so.
No matter what war--from the Revolutionary
War, the Civil War, through WWI and
WWII, Korean War, Vietnam, to the wars
We fight in the Middle East--our freedom stands.
Whether we disagree with fighting
A war, we should all agree our military
Deserves our gratitude and respect. All POW's
And MIA's should not be forgotten today.
Pray for our soldiers fighting now,
And pray for the vets coming home.
Make sure we find ways to help them transition
To civilian life, and know they are not alone.
Remember--as we celebrate today,
That some vets have TBI's or PTSD
And the sound of our fireworks, though
Innocent, can trigger episodes and nightmare dreams.
We must be sure to thank them for their
Service, and do all we can to help them now.
It's sad that most of our homeless people
Are our vets, this needs to change somehow.
Happy Birthday America! We've
Come so far--we still have a long
Way to go. If we all work together--
Side by side, we'll stay America Strong.
