There was another story on
The news last night about
Military veterans who have come
On their own to help Puerto Ricans out.
It's not just vets from all branches
Of the military--a police officer used
Her vacation time to help deliver needed
Supplies to people of water and food.
Also delivered: Medicine, and generators
For those who still have no electricity
Since Hurricane Maria destroyed the
Island. These vets say it's their duty.
They have created a non-profit
Called Veteran Disaster Relief.
We are all Americans they say,
We should help them with their needs.
The military motto is "No one left behind."
We say: "No Americans should be
Left behind." They have stepped up
Once and served their country.
Now on their own initiative,
They once again go above and
Beyond to answer the call of
American to American.
It's ironic that military vets
And others are helping
Puerto Ricans recover their lives--our
Government shut down for not agreeing on anything.
