This Mother's Day I just want to tell you both how much I love you--and as far as I'm concerned, you
are the best Mom and Grandma ever. You were the only ones except for God who loved me uncond-
itionally. You both taught me right from wrong, to always be honest and to do my best to be brave
when something scared me. You taught me to always do my best and to follow through until my work was done. You both treated me like a person--not just a kid who should be seen but not heard.
You taught me to cook and do things around the house. If I did something wrong--I got in trouble,
but I always knew you still loved me. You taught me to love God and to help others whenever it's
possible. Grandma, even though you've been gone for years--I still miss you very much and always
will. As a child I always loved coming to your house, or going to the bus depot with Mom to pick you up when you came here. Back then we would have shopping trips downtown and always have
lunch at the Inness tea room. You and Mom are both women of integrity--not perfect, you both have an ornery streak which I seem to have inherited. When you moved here to be closer to us, I loved coming to your apartment and having lunch with you on my lunch break. Both you and Mom taught
me how to take care of others. And I was able to help Mom care for you until Alzheimer's was so
advanced we couldn't keep you at home. When you had to go to the hospital, Mom and I would feed
you because you wouldn't eat for the nurses. Mom would do lunch and I would come after work and feed you dinner (and sneak you a Frosty because you loved them). Even though Alzheimer's took your memory, I still can remember the love shining in your eyes whenever I was with you. Mom saw that look for her too. Having you both in my life has made me a better person. I just wanted to say I love you both, and Happy Mother's Day to you both.
