CONSTITUTION: RIOTS VS PROTESTS

AMENDMENT IEssays »

The First Amendment of The
Constitution lays out what
Freedoms we are entitled to.
It says what's right and what's not.

We're entitled to freedom of
Speech, religion , and  to
Peacefully assemble and address
Grievances that anger us too.

With freedom of speech,
We can protest things we're
Against--or that we feel need
More attention and a listening ear.

We are entitled to PEACEFULLY assemble.
We are NOT entitled to riot, set fire to cars,
Break windows of businesses and loot--or
Cause injury or death to civilians or officers.

We are NOT entitled to profile
People due to race, religion, or
Because they may wear the uniform
Of a police officer.

We are NOT entitled to make the
Citizens of our cities afraid
To walk or drive down the streets where
They live, day after day.

We ARE entitled to express our
Feelings about wrongs done to us.
You can still make your point peacefully,
Without overturning cars or a bus.

If nothing gets done by protesting
Peacefully--DON't get guns and start
Shooting.  Just keep going higher up the
Chain, finding a person to do their part.

Martin Luther King, Jr. was
Right when he said that hate only
Brings more hate.  Let's try to work
Together--and be real not phony.
