JESUS

A boy child was born,
Thousands of years ago.
But even then everyone knew--
He had an important role.

He was special, this child--
He was the Savior,
The Messiah the world
Had long waited for.

Roman leaders of the time
Felt threatened by Him.
They sent men out to search
For and kill Him.

As He grew--He would
Teach others about His
Heavenly Father and what they
Should do to be part of this.

He raised the dead, healed
The sick, gave sight to the blind--
He spoke to everyone, and
Was always good and kind.

He did other miracles that people
Could hardly believe--He attracted
People to hear Him teach.  And
Once more the leaders felt threatened.

They made a deal with one of
His disciples--Judas to betray Him
For thirty pieces of silver.  Judas was
Ashamed and hung himself from a tree limb.

They captured Him in Gethsemane,
Where He had gone to pray.
His disciples wanted to stop them--
But He said no, He had to go away.

They nailed Him to a cross,
And made Him a crown of thorns.
Mocking and laughing at Him--
Making Him an object of scorn.

He didn't fight, He didn't curse,
He knew it was God's will.
He asked God to forgive them--
For they didn't know who they killed.

He was only 33 years old when
He said "It is finished"and He was gone.
But He rose again on the third day--
And to this day He still lives on.
