MEDICINE AND PRICES

All these different organizations
Want people to donate to pay
For research for medicines to treat
Or cure bad diseases we have today.

They want people for clinical trials
To see if their medicine works
And what side effects there may be--
And iron out any quirks.

When they go to all the effort
To research to help the sick--
Why do drug companies price
It so high, no one can afford it?

Just recently in the news,
They said the price of an
Epi-Pen has risen 600%.
People need those always at hand.

The pharmaceutical companies
Say they have to run a business,
It doesn't seem to sink in they're
Supposed to save lives--what a mess.

Some insurance companies
Won't pay for some drugs
Because they're not "formulary".
Unless you're wealthy, that sucks.

And if some of the drugs
Invented for one disease can
Cause major health problems
Elsewhere, even death--too bad.

Then the companies circle the
Lawyers and drag out lawsuits by
People who were hurt by the drug,
Or the families of those who have died.

They won't admit their drug
Did any damage to anyone.
To get restitution is like pulling
Teeth slowly--one by one.
