LITTLE GIRL PAGEANTS

I may be in the minority--but
I get upset and sad when I see
Toddlers and little girls in makeup,
Styled hair, costumes in a contest for beauty.

Sometimes the costumes are age
Appropriate--sometimes not.  The
Dance routines and catwalk strutting
Should be done by someone older, not babies.

Parents enter their children in
Cute kid picture contests and may
Win a prize.  They're just natural,
Candid shots, no primping--just at play.

One little girl that was in pageants
Like this was murdered 20 years ago.
And now they even have a "Toddlers
And Tiaras" TV show.

You just want to shake the parents
Who enter their little girls in these.
You can tell some of the girls would be
Happier playing then posing saying "cheese".

They only have one chance to be children--
Do what's right for them.
Let them have a normal childhood,
When they're older, resentment may set in.

You should love your children no matter
What, and encourage them in what THEY
Love.  Not everyone looks like a movie star,
Teach them to use their brains, not their face.
