DON'T BE A LITTERER

You see the signs on highways
And in parks:  "Please don't litter".
They even put the request in big
Letters on movie screens in theaters.

Still there is litter everywhere.
Not just paper and garbage bags--
There are abandoned pets that
People leave on the road wrapped in rags.

They're either unwanted--
Or beaten and left for dead.
How people who do that function, I
Don't know, they don't have a brain in their head.

There is also litter of actual people
Who have been bullied, had their
Spirit and self-esteem broken, end up
Traumatized, withdrawn. feeling no one cares.

They take it for so long--
And in the end may take their life.
All because they were "different"
From the"in" crowd, causing them strife.

Then there are people who break
Others hearts, thinking nothing of it--
Just so they have what they want,
Until they're the ones hit.

All kinds of litter can damage
And destroy, whether it's the earth
Or someone's life and family--
It's of no good worth.

We need to be more careful
With what we say and how we act.
Once something is said or done--
It can't be taken back.
