People Just Want To Be Heard

You have a just cause,
And your anger is righteous--
But burning, looting, and rioting
Takes the main cause out of focus.

What happened gets mentioned
On the news, but only because
Of violence.  The reason for it
All is almost lost.

No one is perfect, no matter
Their race, or religion.  No one
Has the right to abuse, steal,
Or destroy for any reason.

Police are given military type
Equipment to use against terrorists.
That equipment should not be used
Or tested on angry citizen protests.

Two wrongs don't make a right--
And more compounds the problem.
There are some in all groups who think
They know better than the rest of them.

No one is above the law--
Not police, citizen, or politician.
You can get your cause across
Without killing and destruction.

ALL LIVES MATTER --
That is what we're saying.
There should be no lies or cover ups, why someone
Is dead, there should be legitimate investigating.

No threats called or sent,
No random ambushes on police.
Our military is fighting a war--
They want to come home to peace.

One incident is not more horrifying
Then another--you can't pick and choose.
Don't use hatred and violence
To get across your views.
