Lord, please don't let me be impatient
With the one I'm caring for--
They didn't ask for this situation,
Don't let me burden them even more.
Don't let me lash out in anger,
Because I've had a bad day.
It's not their fault I have problems,
Guide me Lord, I pray.
Let me be caring, kind, and patient--
And see to their many needs.
Help me give them comfort,
Let this be my creed.
Help me to remember, no matter
Their age or reason for needing care--
They are still human beings like me,
And not a cross to bear.
Help me bring them laughter
And sunshine to lift their hearts--
And if their spirit's broken,
Help me put back together the parts.
Let me make them feel they're valued--
Not just an empty, useless shell.
And any fears or anxieties they have,
Help me to quell.
Amen.
