Special Needs

Don't ever berate, bully or abuse
People with special needs.
I'm not talking about criminals, but those
Challenged through genetics, accidents, or disease.

They're people like us, with hearts
And souls.  Their thinking may be slower,
And they may not talk right--or talk at all.
But we should encourage them, not make them feel lower.

They don't judge us for the
Jerks we can be, they just
Want friends who accept them--
Not look at them with disgust.

You may think you're better
Than they, but in the blink of an eye
You could get sick or have an accident
And not live--but die.

Some people who've been in
Accidents or diagnosed with a disease,
May have chips on their shoulders and be
Mad at the world for no longer having a life of ease.

That's something they have to work through,
With help to progress.
They don't need ridicule or abuse, finding ways
To help them would make more sense.

Children born with  special needs
Are God's angel blessings sent from above.
They're sweet and innocent and don't feel hate,
They view everything and everyone with love.
