When I Grow Up......

When you were little,
What did you want to be?
A Policeman or a Fireman or an
Astronaut taking part in history?

Maybe a singer or dancer,
Or an actor in movies and TV.
When you're a child,
There are endless possibilities.

Maybe a fashion model wearing
Glamorous clothes in fashion shoots,
Or a stay at home parent, working hard
To be sure your kids have solid roots.

How about a Dr. or nurse or
Something else in the medical field?
You'd work long, hard hours--but making
Someone better is a great way to feel.

Something administrative
May not seem much, but can be
The most important part
And backbone of a company.

If you're good with numbers,
Accounting may be for you.
If you like to design and build things--
Architecture or Engineering would do.

As we grow older and
Reality sets in,
Plans may have to change from
What the child wanted back then.

You may find something new,
That interests you even more.
If an opportunity comes up--
Answer when it knocks on the door.
